Igrox help control Legionnaire's Disease

Igrox Limited, the UK’s leading independent pest control company, has introduced a new Water Testing Service to help control the spread of Legionnaires Disease.

The dedicated water testing service offered by Igrox is carried out by trained Field Biologists and Key Managers who monitor the water systems and carry out risk assessments to help identify areas in a water system that may harbour the deadly legionella bacteria.

The bacteria are widespread in the environment and are commonly found in natural water courses. These fatal bacteria are also known to grow in other water systems such as air conditioning units, spas and hot and cold water services.

The Igrox team carry out regular checks of the system to ensure that control measures are operating correctly, sample the water for the presence of bacteria and produce all the necessary paperwork to prove compliance with legislation.

Legislative requirements for the control of legionella put the responsibility for compliance on the owner or operator of the water system. These legal duties require that risks of contamination within the system are identified and assessed; a scheme is prepared for identifying or controlling the risk, precautions are implemented and managed records of the precautions are kept by an appointed person.

“Igrox has a proven record for providing top class contracted pest control and this same level of expertise and commitment has also been applied to this critical new service.” Commented Mark Braithwaite, Managing Director of Igrox Limited.
