World First for Igrox

Igrox, the UK's leading independent pest management and fumigation company, have become the world’s first GTAS Accredited Fumigators.

The Gafta Trade Assurance Scheme (GTAS) is a complete HACCP based scheme for all companies operating in the international grain and feed trade. GTAS provides in one complete trading and logistics scheme the best professional practices designed to maintain consumer confidence concerning the trading, handling and delivery of safe food and feed.  Any company – whether operating just within their own country or in the wider international arena – may apply to become members of the scheme.

Igrox are a member of The International Maritime Fumigation Organisation (IMFO), who have been collaborating closely with GAFTA to develop the fumigation criteria for GTAS. This includes detailed guidance on pest control techniques and a new code of best practice for fumigators operating in-ship, in store and silo. The code also covers spray treatment of insecticides.

“This is the only comprehensive assurance scheme for trade and logistics in the international grain and feed trade and we are delighted to confirm Igrox as the world’s first GTAS accredited Fumigators; we also would like to thank IMFO for their valuable collaboration in developing the fumigator’s standard.  Pest control and fumigation are important to all sectors of the food and animal feed industry” commented Scheme Manager, Jeremy Smith from GAFTA.
