Water Testing for Legionella Bacteria

Legionnaires Disease is spread through the air from a contaminated water source. We usually associate legionella with larger water systems in factories, hotels, hospitals and air conditioning systems but they can also live in smaller water systems, like showers, used in residential accommodation. Other potential sources of the Legionella bacteria include spa and whirlpool baths, humidifiers and fire fighting systems.

Any Establishment owner / Employer in charge of premises has a responsibility for the welfare of the general public and / or the people who use the premises, and need to comply with the requirements of The Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.
